A study carried out at the University of Georgia (USA) concluded that daily administration of ginger supplements reduces muscle pain induced by exercise. It has also been discovered that ginger reduces the symptoms of dysmenorrhea (severe pain during a menstrual cycle). In another study, 83% of women who took ginger capsules got better symptoms of menstrual pain compared to 47% of those who received a placebo.

Ginger has been used for centuries to reduce inflammation and treat inflammatory conditions. Ginger has also been shown to be a promising remedy in clinical trials to treat the inflammation associated with osteoarthritis.

The root of the ginger plant can be consumed fresh, powdered, dried as a spice, in the form of oil or even as juice. Ginger belongs to the family of cardamom and turmeric, and is produced in India, Jamaica, Fiji, Indonesia and Australia.
