« Indian Generative » is a visual generative musical instrument built with processing by French digital artist Jean-Michel Rolland.
The user chooses the tempo and the musical style from ten different modes (called “thaat”) used in northern India.
These modes differ in the notes which compose them :
Asavari : C - D - Eb - F - G - Ab - Bb - C
Bhairava : C - Db - E - F - G - Ab - B - C
Bhairavi : C - Db - Eb - F - G - Ab - Bb - C
Bilaval : C - D - M - F - G - A - B - C
Kafi : C - D - Eb - F - G - A - Bb - C
Kalyan : C - D - E - F# - G - A - B - C
Khammaj : C - D - E - F - G - A - Bb - C
Marava : C - Db - E - F# - G - A - B - C
Pooravi : C - Db - E - F# - G - Ab - B - C
Todi : C - Db - Eb - F# - G - Ab - B - C
