The Crooked Fox - Kids Story Book and Kids Activity Book

Once upon a time there lived a shrewd fox in a Jungle. He was very lazy and did not want to chase and hunt the animals. He was very wicked also. He always thought of a plan so that he could get food without doing any efforts.

One day he was roaming here and there in the jungle. Suddenly he heard some voice behind the bushes. He stopped and went near the bushes.

He hid behind the bushes and peeped from there. He saw a big group of mice living there. They were playing, gathering food and doing other activities.

Then he saw a big fat mouse giving instructions to other mice and they were following his instructions. This mouse was the king of those mice.

When the fox saw the mice, his mouth filled with water. The wicked fox thought of a plan. He smiled and said to himself, “What an idea I have got! This idea will arrange me food for several days.”

The fox waited till the next morning. Early in the morning he went near the holes of the mice and stood up on one foot with his mouth wide open and eyes closed.

When the mice got awakened and came out of the hole, they saw the fox in that strange posture. They got afraid of the fox. But soon they found that instead of chasing them the fox was still standing on his one foot.

All the mice got surprised. One mouse somehow gathered courage and went near to the fox and asked, “Dear fox! Why are you standing on one foot and why is your mouth wide open?

The fox opened his eyes and said, “My child! I worshipped god very hard for many years. Then god became happy with me and appeared in front of me and blessed me special powers.”

He continued, “Those powers made me so heavy that if I put all my feed on the ground, the Earth would not be able to hold my weight. The natural speed and balance of the Earth would get disturbed. That’s why I am standing on one foot.”

He continued, “And my mouth is wide open because I eat only the air. Air gives me all the energy I need. I am here for the welfare of you people." His words made the mice comfortable and their fear got disappeared.

Now they had accepted the fox as their preacher. The only thing he used to do was to stand up on one foot and give his teachings to his followers.

The mice were carried away by his smart talks. They had accepted the fox as the God’s angle. They had deep faith in him. The fox was making fool of them and taking unfair advantage of their faith.

Every day after the fox’s lessons got over, enchanted mice used to go back to their holes. Then the fox grabbed three four mice who remained the last in the crowd and ate them.

That was his every day’s routine. Slowly and gradually the number of mice was decreasing and the fox becoming fat day by day. This made the king worried.

The king kept an eye on the fox. He watched the fox for the whole day but could not find him chasing or hunting the mice. Then he decided to remain last in the crowd when the fox’s lessons would over.

Next day according to his plan he remained last after lessons. He was vigilant. He was watching the fox’s activities. Suddenly the fox jumped upon him but he dodged him. The fox floored on the ground.

The king called his people and ordered to attack the fox. The mice climbed upon him. They bit and hit him furiously. He cried with pain.

Somehow he managed to escape and ran as fast as he could. But today he learnt a lesson that once or twice you can make fool of somebody and take unfair advantage of one’s faith but not always. Ultimately the truth reveals itself.
