Helping Children with Impulsive and Acting Out Behavior

Active children can be wonderful and fun. There are times, however, when it may feel like another very difficult child inhabits your child’s body. This difficult child is impulsive, loses control of his/her emotions, and engages in “acting out” behavior. Sometimes, this acting out is confined to your home only, and does not present itself in school. In some cases though, it may be a problem both at school

and at home.

The behavior management program in this book is designed to help your family encourage your child to build self control.

Inconsistent behavior management sometimes increases problematic behavior, so if you begin this program, you need to be consistent. It is important for the family to work as a team in identifying problematic behaviors as well as in building positive coping strategies for impulsive behavior

and emotions.
