What is text-STAR?

text-STAR is a groundbreaking road safety advancement in the fight back against Distracted Driving from texting or calls while driving.. text-STAR is arming drivers with valuable insight reflecting a driver’s safe handling of mobile technology. Drivers can now get a text-STAR score reflective of safe driving habits thru distracted driving avoidance.

What is a text-STAR score?

A text-STAR score is the result of the assessment of mobile technology use while driving. This provides a driver specific personalized score.

How does text-STAR work?

Text-STAR helps you avoid distracted driving as your digital personal assistant while scoring you on the use of your phone while in motion. This data is utilized by text-STAR to formulate a driver specific profile and score. The text-STAR Report contains a text-STAR Score with a breakdown of the driver’s performance profile. The result is a new level of insight which drivers can utilize as a measuring stick to improve upon. Once you develop a good score contact your insurance carrier directly (not the agent) and ask if they participate in a text-STAR's Preferred Carrier Network for a possible discount.

Why the need of a text-STAR score?

In order to overcome distracted driving related deaths and injuries taking place on our roads, text-STAR's PLATFORM of CHANGE allows for the opportunity to identify and reduce unacceptable risk for all drivers. Insight provided by text-STAR’s driver specific profile is a major benefit for everyone. Just one safer driver means a safer road for many.

Good text-STAR scores serve as a useful tool in demonstrating to insurance carriers that safe driving without the distraction of mobile technology is possible. This would in turn help curb increasing premiums from the current high cost of claims that result from distracted driving.

Modes

Auto Engage: The best and mode to use text-STAR is in the automatic mode which auto engages your Personal Texting Assistant upon detecting motion above 10mph.

Manual: You control when text-STAR is on, letting you send auto replies when you're on the move or just need some space.

Passenger: For those times when you're not a driver. Get through the passenger verification process and use your phone as you normally would. Only allowed in motion via verification of being a passenger.

Scheduler

The scheduler allows text-STAR to automatically reply to SMS and MMS messages you receive during those pre-selected times.

NOTE: GO SMS blocks other apps from determining that the user has received a text message, in effect disabling other apps' ability to react to incoming SMS and MMS messages. If you have GO SMS installed and still experience a problem with text-STAR not auto responding, you'll need to un-check the "Disable other message notification" feature of GO SMS (found in Settings, Advanced tab, Receive Settings). You may have to uninstall Go SMS to solve the problem.
