Summitree is a challenge-based fitness app where you record activities (like running, walking, and cycling), join team challenges, and convert your physical movement into measurable climate protection (such as planting trees).

HOW SUMMITREE WORKS

You can track activities via GPS, record steps via device sensors, or seamlessly import your daily workouts using Health Connect. Our core functionality relies on measuring your activity (specifically distance) and converting it into team challenge progress and real-world climate impact.

ANDROID HEALTH CONNECT INTEGRATION

To make participating as easy as possible, Summitree uses Android Health Connect. This allows you to automatically sync your fitness data from other wearables and apps directly into your Summitree challenges, so you get credit for all your hard work without manual entry.

Why we need specific Health Connect data and how it benefits you:

• Distance (READ_DISTANCE): This is the absolute core metric of our app. We require your distance data to calculate your progress in challenges, update team leaderboards, and convert your physical effort into climate impact (e.g., turning kilometers cycled into trees planted). Without distance data, you cannot participate in our core climate challenges.

• Exercise Sessions & Cadence (READ_EXERCISE): We read your exercise sessions to automatically import completed workouts (like a morning run or bike ride) from your favorite fitness trackers. This saves you from entering workouts manually and ensures your team gets immediate credit. We also read cycling pedaling cadence within these sessions to validate the authenticity of cycling workouts, ensuring fair play and accurate leaderboards in our community challenges.

• Steps (READ_STEPS): Used as an alternative metric so you can participate in step-based challenges if you are not tracking distance or specific workouts.

• Calories (READ_TOTAL_CALORIES_BURNED, READ_ACTIVE_CALORIES_BURNED) & Heart Rate (READ_HEART_RATE): These are used strictly to provide you with a comprehensive personal dashboard, allowing you to view your extra fitness statistics and workout insights alongside your challenge progress.

Your privacy is our priority. The use of Health Connect is entirely optional, and you can revoke permissions at any time. Your health data is used solely to enhance your app experience and is never sold or shared with third parties.
