Sonic Blitz

Sonic Blitz received a groundbreaking 2.0 overhaul in May 2026. Rovio has completely reworked the game's core mechanics, transforming it from a card-based collectible game into a real-time team battle RPG. Now you can take control of Sonic and his friends in real-time combat against Dr. Eggman's forces, with unrestricted running stages between battles.

Real-Time Team Battles

Combat is no longer turn-based card play but real-time PVE team fights. You directly control your characters and unleash special abilities at the right moment to turn the tide of battle.

Unrestricted Running Stages

Between each battle, you'll enter classic Sonic running stages. With no traditional lane restrictions, you can move freely, collect Rings, dash through enemies, and prepare for your next fight.

Story Map Progression

The new version's content unfolds through a chapter-based Story Map, providing a clearer progression structure that ties every battle and run to the overall narrative.

Ability Card System

Each character has unique Ability Cards that can be used to cast special skills during combat. Using abilities consumes Energy, which regenerates over time, adding strategic depth to every encounter.

Character & Visual Upgrades

The initial playable roster includes Sonic, Amy, Big, and Mighty, with Tails and Cream to be added later. All characters feature brand-new attack animations and moves for more dynamic combat.

How to play Sonic Blitz

1. Start from Chapter 1 of the Story Map and follow the tutorial to learn the basic rhythm of combat and running.

2. Build your squad by selecting characters like Sonic and Amy, then equip them with Ability Cards.

3. Enter real-time combat, observe enemy movements, and time your character's skills carefully to deal damage or block attacks.

4. After each battle, jump into running stages where you freely control Sonic to collect Rings and power-ups for the next fight.

5. As you progress, unlock more chapters and characters, while earning extra rewards through the Blitz Journey system.
