How to Stop Infection

When you download Infect Stops, you will be notified if you have been close to other users of the app who later become infected with the coronavirus. The notification, sent via SMS, gives you advice on how to protect your own and protect the health of others.

Check your phone number

To get the SMS notification to the correct number, you must have updated your information in the central Contact and Reservation Register: http://eid.difi.no/nb/kontakt-og-reservasjonsregisteret

From trial to notice

All who test positive for coronary infection are registered in a national health register called the Communicable Diseases Notification System (MSIS). This is done independently of the app and follows from statutory obligations in the Health Register Act and MSIS regulations. Using the birth number, this information is linked to mobile numbers stored in the public Contact and Reservation Register.

More about the SMS notification

When people are notified that they have been near an infected, the close contacts get to know the date of the contact so that the quarantine time can be calculated. However, in situations where few have contact with others, we cannot rule out that some of the notified persons can understand who the infected person is.

This is how close contacts are registered

In this version of the Smit Stop app, contact is closer than two meters for more than 15 minutes, defined as close contact. To register the close contacts, the app uses GPS location and Bluetooth proximity.

Your personal information

When you use Infect Stop, FHI will process your personal information. Read more about this in Smittestopp's privacy statement (link). The personal information collected can only be used for the purpose defined in the privacy statement, and not to monitor whether individuals comply with advice or instructions. Health information, or location data is not made available to police, prosecutors, for use for insurance purposes, or employers. The personal data cannot be exploited commercially. As a general rule, your personal information will not be processed by people.

Infection Stop collects the following personal information: Mobile phone number, age, GPS location, generated UUID (a unique ID that follows the phone number) operating system, version number and phone model. Bluetooth data on close contact with other phones is continuously logged and information about a user is infected, or has been in close contact with an infected.

About deletion

You can delete your personal information at any time by using the delete button inside the app, and then delete the Stop infection. If you simply delete Infection Stop from your mobile phone without using the delete button first, your personal information will be deleted centrally only after a week of inactivity.

As long as you have activated the app, GPS data, information about where you have been and what other mobile phones you have been near will be automatically deleted after 30 days.

All personal data collected shall be deleted when the regulations expire on 1 December 2020.

Increased awareness of the epidemic

Anonymized excerpts of data from the app will help to monitor the spread of infection and assess the effect of population protection measures. This data cannot be linked to individuals.

Voluntary

It is optional to use Infect Stop, and you must read through the description in the Privacy Statement and accept the terms before you can use the app.

Notification of changes

The corona epidemic is rapidly evolving and can lead to changes in both the functionality of the service and the privacy statement. You will be informed via SMS of any changes as early as possible and in a way that allows you to decide whether you still want to use Infection Stop before the changes take effect.
