Salmo 50

1 The Lord, the supreme God, speaks; summons the whole earth, from sunrise to sunset.

2 From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines.

3 Our God is coming! You certainly won't be silent! Before him goes a consuming fire, and around him a violent storm.

4 He summons the high heavens and the earth for the judgment of his people:

5 “Gather together those who are faithful to me, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.”

6 And the heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is the judge.

7 “Listen, my people, for I will speak; I will testify against you, Israel, I who am God your God.

8 I do not accuse you for your sacrifices, nor for the burnt offerings, which you always offer me.

9 I have no need of any bull in your stalls or goats in your stalls,

10 for all the animals of the forest are mine, as are the cattle by the thousands on the hills.

11 I know all the birds of the mountains, and I care for the creatures of the field.

12 If I was hungry, would I have to tell you? For the world is mine, and everything in it.

13 Do I eat the meat of bulls or drink the blood of goats?

14 “Offer your gratitude to God as a sacrifice, fulfill your vows to the Most High,

15 and cry to me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

16 But to the wicked God says, “What right have you to recite my laws or keep repeating my covenant?

17 For you hate my discipline and turn your back on my words!

18 You see a thief and you become his accomplice, and you mix with adulterers.

19 His mouth is full of malice, and his tongue is deceitful.

20 You deliberately speak against your brother and slander your own mother's son.

21 Would I be silent in the face of all that you have done? Do you think I'm like you? But now I will accuse him directly, without omitting anything.

22 “Consider this, you who forget God; otherwise I will tear them to pieces, and no one will deliver them.

23 Whoever offers his gratitude to me as a sacrifice honors me, and I will show the salvation of God to him who walks in my ways.”
