Ornamental plants — plants that are usually and mostly grown to decorate gardens, parks, squares and other parts of urban and rural areas intended for recreation, or office, industrial and residential premises (in the latter case they are often also called indoor plants).

Since conditions for plants in residential or public buildings are not as favorable as when growing them in greenhouses, special techniques are used to achieve a healthy state and proper development of plants.
