The Great Panda lives in deciduous and coniferous forests with a thick bamboo forest in mountainous areas of central China, such as Sichuan and Tibet, at altitudes of 1200 to 4000 meters above sea level. The showers and dense fog throughout the year are characteristic of these forests that are often covered with thick clouds. Pandas die because the bamboo forests where they live are massively cut down and the animals have no place to live.

In ancient China, it was believed that the panda fur has magical power and protects against evil spirits. Through hunting and poaching, pandas were on the brink of extinction.

99% of the panda's diet is bamboo. This vegetarian diet is fairly poor in nutrients and therefore most of the free time of the panda is busy eating bamboo.

Adult pandas are so large that virtually no natural enemies. Small babies or sick or old individuals may become victims of snow leopards.
