Helping Busy Moms Take Time For Themselves

How “Mom’s Time Off” Came to Be

Being a mom can be exhausting, rewarding, enriching, crazy, chaotic, noisy, quiet, and (for me) has been both the hardest and most fulfilling thing I have done in my life. It seems like daily I give incredible amounts of time and energy to raising the happiest and healthiest little guy possible. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. But, at the end of the day, I’m exhausted. At the end of the day, I want to curl up and take just a little bit of “me time.”

But what exactly is “me-time?” Is it staring at a TV-screeen? Is it going out with the girls? Is it taking a relaxing bubble bath? As I started playing around with different types of “me-time,” I noticed that while some left me feeling re-energized and ready for the next day, others seemed to leave me more drained than when I started them. Something that left me exhausted didn’t feel like the greatest use of my precious “me-time.”

So I started scrolling through the blogosphere, looking for information to help me out. I was hoping to find a blog that would tell me what “me-time” activities were scientifically proven to actually nourish my mind, body, and soul. I was hoping to to find a blog that would also give me some super simple and quick activities that would re-center me and get ready for the next day. At the end of the day (or whenever I found some precious “me-time”) I didn’t have a lot of time to wade through the distracting internet, I wanted a straightforward and simple resource that I could use NOW.

And I couldn’t find any. Not a one. So I decided to start one.

On this blog, you will find everything I was looking for. You will find information about stress and different stress-relievers. You will find activities to reduce stress. You will find information on happiness. You will find reviews on books, movies, and other forms of entertainment that actually made me feel good after reading or watching. There will be guided meditations and visualizations. And interviews with women who are doing really interesting projects with self-care for moms.

I know you are busy and I hope that this blog becomes a trusted resource for managing your valuable “you-time.”

So take a seat, grab a cup of tea, and browse through the blog.

About Melinda Pedersen

I am a single momma of an incredible little guy. Each day he brings a smile to my lips and teaches me something new.

I am also an outdoor enthusiast. During the summers I enjoy hiking in the mountains (now with a toddler in a backpack) and in the winter I try to get fresh powder under my snowboard whenever I have a day to myself (which doesn’t happen all that often). I try to focus on the simple things in life and like to laugh at the little things.

I have a BA in Creative Writing and have been published in Scratch Magazine, Thought Catalogue, and the Phoenix Newspaper.
