Magic hat is a hat that pays you to wear it? How does it do this? The data the hat collects is used for AI research and is paid for based on data quality. As a user you just need to wear the hat, go about your day, do useful tasks, and you will get paid according to the data quality!

Apply — Complete a short application with identity verification and a brief internet speed check.

Receive your kit — Approved contributors receive a Magic Hat on loan, shipped at no cost. The device remains Magic Hat's property and is returnable if you leave the platform. The app guides you through setup.

Record assigned task types — Wear the hat while performing everyday manual activities such as cooking, workshop tasks, farming, crafting, or shopping. Recordings capture your hands and workspace from a first-person perspective. You control when the camera is on and can pause or stop at any time.

Upload for review — Submit recordings through the app! An automated system reviews the clips to pay out according to data quality.

Get compensated — Based on the data quality, money will be credited to you! Payouts are sent directly to your registered bank account on a daily cycle.

Privacy and third parties

Contributors are instructed to record only their own hands and workspace. Task guidelines prohibit recording identifiable third parties, children, private conversations, or private spaces of others without consent. Our review process flags and rejects footage that does not meet these privacy standards. Contributors can request deletion of their account and associated data at any time through the app.
