Set of prayers to be recited at certain times each day

Liturgy of the Hours is the set of sentences (psalms, antiphons, hymns, prayers, Bible readings and others) that the Church has organized to be recited at certain times each day. The Divine Office is part of the liturgy and, as such, constitutes, with Holy Mass, public and official prayer of the Church.

Its purpose is to consecrate the hours the Lord, extending communion with Christ effected in the Sacrifice of the Mass. Who prays the office makes a stop in the work to pray with the Church even if you are physically alone.
