Pantun is an old type of poetry that is very famous in Southeast Asia, covering Malay and Javanese land. In Javanese the pantun is known as the parikan which means ray.

Generally written poems consist of four lines, each line consists of 8-12 syllables. Usually the rhyme has poems ending in (a-b-a-b) and (a-a-a-a).

The form of the pantun itself consists of two parts, namely; Attachments and Contents.

The attachment is the first two lines of rhyme which are usually related to the nature and culture of the community, and usually have no relationship with the second part which conveys a purpose other than delivering rhymes / poems.

The contents are the purpose of the purpose of delivering the pantun.
