A mobille app about how drug dependence stigma can be avoided.

The Cyprus Anti-Drugs Council, proudly presents the official Android application for journalists, media representatives, health sector workers, policy makers and politicians and everyone wanting to find out more about how stigma can be avoided, when using language or image to refer to drug dependence. This helpful tool is a feature-rich app with five major functional tabs: Stigma, Facts about drug dependence, Treatment, Best Practice Guide for communicating, Latest News and Press Releases.

A dictionary based on the official World Health Organization dictionary of dependence related terms assists app users in identifying appropriate, non –stigmatizing terms to replace commonly used language. Examples of images from art help app users realize alternative ways to “picture” dependence. The map utility easily guides people to their nearest treatment facility /center. Comments for articles / latest news engage people and encourage active participation in raising awareness and advocacy.

The app downloads and syncs the latest news directly to your device for online or offline reading. Improved design and web links to related sites features enhance your reading experience. View the application with adjustable font size and share articles via e-mail, Facebook and Twitter. Finally, get news alerts to be the first to read about upcoming events or other related issues as soon as they occur.
