The numbers of natural disasters and mortalities from the disasters have significantly increased in Asia and the Pacific region. A number of people in the region have suffered from the massive aftermath of disasters including Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami in 2004 and recent earthquake in Nepal in 2015. It is imperative to prepare ourselves to reduce all risks of natural hazards-induced disasters.

Sai Fah: The Flood Fighter was the first mobile application developed by UNESCO Bangkok and Opendream supported by Japanese Funds-in-Trust (JFIT) to enable players to learn how to protect themselves and people around them from floods and it was downloaded by nearly 100,000 users in 140 countries in 4 languages; Thai, English, French and Bahasa Indonesian.

Following the success of Sai Fah, a new game, Tanah: The Tsunami and Earthquake Fighter is developed to engage users to learn how to protect themselves from Earthquake & Tsunami, providing key survival lessons of all phases of disaster – preparedness, response and recovery – through more than 20-stage of exciting as well as challenging game. The game will be available in English, Bahasa and Nepalese with possibility of expanding its language scope. Tanah is targeted for its release in November 2015 with generous supports of the Red Cross and USAID.
