Learning Guide CVT Motor Matic:

CVT system (Continously Variable Transmission), is an automatic system that is installed on several types of motorcycles today. This system produces a reduction ratio automatically according to the engine speed, so that the rider is free from the necessity of shifting gears so that more comfortable and relaxed.

How CVT Drives System Works

A. Round Langsam

If the engine rotates at low speed, the rotary power of the crankshaft is forwarded to the Pulley Primary V-belt Pulley Secondary and Centrifugal Clutch. Due to the insufficient rotary power, the centrifugal clutch has not expanded yet. Because the tensile force on the coupling is still stronger than the centrifugal force, so the centrifugal clutch does not touch the clutch house and the rear wheels do not rotate.

B. When Starting

At the time of engine speed increased approximately 3,000 rpm, the centrifugal force increased stronger than the pull per so that resulted in clutch shoe began to menyetuh clutch house and began to occur friction power. In this condition the V-belt in the primary pulley portion of the inner diameter (small) position and in the secondary pulley at the outer (large) position resulting in a large rotation / torque ratio causing the rear wheel to rotate easily. Centrifugal clutch touched the clutch house. Centrifugal clutch starts expanding from round 2,550 to 2,950 rpm. Full coupling coupling at 4,700 to 5,300 rpm

C. Medium Round

As the rotation increases, the weight in the primary pulley begins to move out due to the centrifugal force and suppresses the primary sliding sheave of the fixed sheave system and presses the V-belt of the outer circle of the primary pulley thus making the pulley diameter primary enlarges and pulls the secondary pulley to a smaller diameter.

This is possible because the length of the V-belt is fixed. Finally the diameter of the primary pulley enlarges and the diameter of the secondary pulley shrinks so that the diameter of the pulley becomes as large and eventually the rotation and velocity also changes and accelerates.

D. High Round

Round the engine is higher than the middle round then the center out of the ballast is increasing. So the pressure V-belt to the outer side of the primary pulley (enlarged diameter) and the diameter of the pulley secondary decreases. Furthermore, it will result in higher turn ratio

If the secondary pulley is widened, the V-Belt diameter on the pulley is smaller, resulting in an increased ratio of rotation.

E. How the Dry Centrifugal Clutch Works

Clutch coupling: The clutch shoe moves out and transfers power through centrifugal force

F. Torque Cam / Cam Torque Improvement

Cam torque enhancer / cam torque can be called by the name of torque sensor this device can make sliding sheave automatically work if big spin torque is needed, for example in climbing condition or speed increase.

G. Reduction Gear

To produce the ideal total rotation ratio between the crankshaft and the rear wheel, a reduction gear is required with two reductions. First type of helical gear to reduce noise, as for gear main axle and gear drive axle with straight gear / spur gear type.

For this reduction gear use the existing lubrication inside a separate gearbox with a V-belt home and brake home.
