Real Change provides opportunity and a voice to homeless and low-income people while taking action for economic, social, and racial justice. More than 300 vendors are employed selling our weekly newspaper each month at locations throughout the Puget Sound region.

The Real Change app allows readers to support their vendor through an electronic purchase that eliminates the need for cash while maintaining the vendor/reader interaction that is at the heart of why Real Change works.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where does the $2.99 go?

Your vendor earns $1.50 for each electronic sale. Real Change receives 60 cents to help pay for our work. A 30% transaction fee is required for all in-app purchases, and makes up the remaining 89 cents.

Why can’t I have a paper copy?

In-app purchase requirements stipulate that no physical product may be exchanged for electronic purchase. The Epub version of Real Change looks great and is convenient for reading on the go.

What if I want to tip?

The Real Change app does not have a tipping option because the 30% in app fee applies to the entire purchase amount. We encourage readers to tip their vendors when making cash purchases of the paper.
