Grapheme Color Clock

The Grapheme Color Clock represents time in colors rather than numbers. It is both a faster and less stressful way to chart the progress of our lives.

The Grapheme Clock color system is easy to learn. It's based on Leonardo da Vinci's classification of a basic set of 'simple' colors; yellow, blue, red & green.

In 1878 Ewald Hering created a color wheel using da Vinci's ideas. His system used the "psychological primaries" with Red opposed to Green and Yellow opposed to Blue. By dividing Hering's wheel into 12 distinct colors and following the natural progression of the color spectrum we are able to create a unique timepiece.

Interactive Mode

Hours are represented by the smaller circle in the center of the dial. Five minute intervals are represented by the outer circle.

To assist you in learning to tell time by color we give you an array of reference colored petals in the positions where you would normally see numbers. This makes it easy for you to match up each color against an hour or a five-minute interval. Note: In those rare occasions when you feel the need for greater precision use the Grapheme color Clock's ambient mode.

Ambient Mode

The outer ring represents minutes. Notice the small hacks in the minute ring. These give you the exact time in minutes. The ring in the center represents hours. Here too there is a small break in the circumference which pinpoints the hour.

Expert Mode

Congratulations if you have learned the colors well enough to not need the reference petals shown in Interactive mode. By using the options feature you can now turn off the petals and eventually stop thinking about time in numbers.
