Application for monitoring GEMS Project in Schools of Rajasthan state, India.

The “ICRW-GEMS MIS “ application will enable the ICRW, Asia project team to track the progress of the project GEMS for Boys which focuses on of building the gender equality perspectives of adolescent boys who are studying in grades VI-VII from 400 government schools of Udaipur and Sirohi District in Rajasthan. Additionally, the application will help the teachers who are trained under the GEMS program and responsible for program implementation at schools to understand the progress of the activities (classroom session, workshops and campaigns) conducted in their schools.

The designed application will allow the designated Field Facilitators (who are responsible for providing support to the teachers to implement the program) and teachers who are implementing the program in 400 schools across 4 blocks of Sirohi and Udaipur district in the state of Rajasthan . The application captures the details of project activities such as classroom sessions, workshops and campaigns imparted to the students and other stakeholders in respective schools. The application will provide an overview on the outputs of the program and help the project team to check if the project implementation is on track. The MIS data collected to the application will also help the ICRW team to identify the areas where the teachers need handholding support from the field facilitator.

The application has two different input data points- one will be filled by the teacher who is conducting the school activities and the other will be filled by the field facilitator who will be cofacilitating the school activities with the teacher. This application has been designed to track the feedback from the students, teachers and stakeholders (School Management Committee members). It will also allow Field Facilitators to capture their observation about the project activities which they are observing / cofacilitating with the teacher. The application will be able to share the learning materials in the form of videos and files (word and PDF) for the teachers and Field Facilitators to understand and prepare for the sessions they conduct with the students (the above said features are provided through Mobile application).

The overall goal of the application is to track the progress and quality of intervention activities of the Gender Equity Movement in Schools (GEMS) for Boys program. The objective of the program is to build the gender equality perspective, reducing gender based violence and improving knowledge and access to sexual reproductive health services for adolescent boys aged 12-14 years in 400 government schools in 4 blocks from Sirohi and Udaipur districts ( 2 blocks from each district). The application has access roles and the same feature has been provided under the web application. Each level (State/District/Block) level application users has login in the web to view their dashboard and reports. The application will provide an overview on the outcomes of the activities implemented to the students and enable the central office staff (Head office staff of ICRW) to understand the larger requirements emerged during implementation of the project.

Over all the application will enable the staff members to seamlessly track the project activities right from the beginning. All the said field staff members can view the progress on the web as well as in mobile on a real time basis. At the project management level, the application will provide updates on the progress of activity implementation in dynamic dashboard and reports on a real time basis.
