About Guardian Rape Alert

English

Headphone cable ->emergency pull cord to send location info in case of an attack

Guardian turns your headphone cable into an emergency pull-cord system, so that if you're attacked while outside you can easily send a message containing your location to a trusted third party (via text message and/or email). While the alert is active Guardian will continue to send periodic location updates and also an audio feed. The author's hope is that this will increase the chances that an attacker will be successfully prosecuted and thus act as a deterrent.

For those of you who are leery of giving a new app permission to send text messages, an alternative version is available with this permission removed.

A copy of the audio recording and data is saved to a central server by default and kept for 30 days at which point it is deleted. You can turn this feature off in the options (although it is recommended that you perform a test run with your trusted third party before relying on their email server)

Your rough location (to about city level) is sent to the server on starting the app but other than that location data is only sent during an alert.
