Weiqi (Hanzi: 圍棋; Pinyin: Wéiqí) is a strategic board game between two players from ancient China about 2500 years ago. Its name more or less means "game board around (region).

In Indonesia, Weiqi chess known as Igo, "Go" is the English name derived from the Japanese script (囲 碁; Igo) pronunciation. The game is becoming popular in East Asia, and the development of systems for playing over the internet has increased its popularity in other parts of the world.

Weiqi was discovered by the ancient Chinese emperor Yao who used it to train his son Danzhu. People used to call Weiqi "Shoutan" or "Zuoyin". Shoutan means conversing with the hands.

Although there are no words spoken during the Weiqi game, one can read the thoughts and moods of others. Zuoyin is two people who chatted while sitting together. The seeds on Weiqi's chess board are round black and white.
