Geographical Indication (GI) product of Sakon Nakhon province.

สิ่งบ่งชี้ทางภูมิศาสตร์ หรือ GI (Geographical Indication) คือ เครื่องหมายที่ใช้กับสินค้าที่มาจากแหล่งผลิตที่เฉพาะเจาะจง ซึ่งคุณภาพหรือชื่อเสียงของสินค้านั้น ๆ เป็นผลมาจากการผลิตในพื้นที่ดังกล่าว GI จึงเปรียบเสมือนแบรนด์ของท้องถิ่นที่บอกคุณภาพและแหล่งที่มาของสินค้า

Geographical Indication (GI) is a name or symbol that represent products originated from specific locations, where products derive their unique quality and reputation. Hence, GI represents a brand of locality signifying a product's quality and place of origin.

จังหวัดสกลนคร มีลักษณะเป็นแอ่งกระทะ แผ่นดินเป็นคลื่นลอน มีแหล่งน้ำตามธรรมชาติขนาดใหญ่สำหรับการเกษตร และมีลำน้ำหลายสายจากเทือกเขาภูพานไหลผ่านลงสู่แม่น้ำโขง ในช่วงฤดูหนาวมีอากาศหนาวเย็น ปริมาณฝนค่อนข้างมาก มีแดดจัดและอบอ้าวในฤดูร้อน ปัจจัยเหล่านี้ ส่งผลให้จังหวัดสกลนครมีสินค้าสิ่งบ่งชี้ทางภูมิศาสตร์ (GI) มากถึง 5 รายการ ประกอบด้วย ข้าวฮางหอมทองสกลทวาปี เนื้อโคขุนโพนยางคำ หมากเม่าสกลนคร น้ำหมากเม่าสกลนคร และผ้าครามธรรมชาติสกลนคร

Sakon Nakhon province is the basin; the land is undulation and has big natural water resources for agriculture and many rivers run through this area to Mekhong River. The weather is winter is cold. With the high volume of rain but shiny and stuffy in summer. These make Sakon Nakhon province are having 5 GI products such as Sakon Dhavapi Hang Golden Aromatic Rice, Pon-Yang-Khram Beef, Sakon Nakhon Mak Mao Berry, Sakon Nakhon Mak Mao Berry Juice and Sakon Nakhon Natural Indigo Dyed Fabric.
