easy crochet discloth patterns - This pattern teaches you how to crochet a simple single crochet dishcloth that is ideal for beginners to learn on. The dishcloth pattern is easy to crochet to any size you want, making the pattern great for blankets, scarves or anything else you like.

To get started, you will need a worsted weight #4 yarn. The yarn labels will provide you with the information. As for your crochet hook, I used an H/8-5.00mm hook, but an I/9-5.50mm will work just as well for this yarn and pattern. It'll just come out a bit bigger.

To crochet the dishcloth, make 21 chains.

Row 1: Single crochet in second chain from your hook. The skipped chain does not count as a stitch. Then single crochet in each chain across. Turn your work. (You will have 20 stitches made.)

easy crochet discloth patterns - Rows 2-24: Chain 1. Then work 1 single crochet in each stitch across. Turn after each row. (20 stitches in each row)

If you don't mind the jagged edges, you can leave the dishcloth as is and fasten off your yarn. However, for a nice smooth edge, you can work a round of single crochet stitches around the dishcloth. To do that, make your chain 1. Then work 1 single crochet evenly around, with 3 single crochet stitches in each corner. Once you get all the way around, you will join the round with a slip stitch. Now you can fasten it off and weave in your ends to secure it.

You can also use the above pattern to make a scarf or a blanket. The only thing you would change is the number of chains that you start off with.

If making a scarf you might want to start off with fewer chains; about 15 would give you a nice width. Then simply repeat the 2nd row until you have reached a length that you like.

easy crochet discloth patterns - As for a blanket, you could start off with a 100 or 200 or more, depending on what size you want. A baby blanket would only need about a hundred or so, whereas a full-sized blanket would need a greater width.

Another option you have is to change up your yarn and hook sizes. You can basically use any yarn and hook size, just make sure to measure your chains in order to get the width you need. You could also add pretty stripes by changing your colors after every row or every few rows.
