What it Kirigami? From the name can be guessed this art comes from Japan. The art of paper folding (origami) are well known. Kirigami may not be as popular as origami. Kirigami like origami in the art of paper folding. The main difference is in our origami paper folding to create works of art while at Kirigami paper folded and cut to produce works of art. In Japan, the word Kirigami has existed since time immemorial. Kirigami word comes from the word "kiru" which means cutting and "gami" means paper. So Kirigami means the art of paper cutting. Tools and materials used are scissors, cutter, glue and of course the color paper.

Basic Shapes Kirigami

The basic shape of Kirigami is a round circular 2-dimensional decoration. Ornate rounded circular symmetry pieces obtained by folding. For beginners usually taught how to cut 4 folds, creases 6 or 8 folds. To make the piece 4 folds, two symmetrically folded paper, then folded two symmetrical once again.
