For a large part of his life, according to the book of the same name, Daniel received various apocalyptic visions announcing, through symbols and numerical keys, the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth.

God shows how He gives wisdom to Daniel and how He will give it to all who want, for the simple fact of having will and to recognize that the power is in the hands of the Most High, Almighty God.

In the book of Ezekiel a certain Daniel is named as a person of exceptional wisdom and righteousness (Ezekiel 14: 14, 20 and 28: 3). Also mentioned are two other characters with the same name, namely, Daniel, son of David (1 Chronicles 3: 1 and 2 Sam 3: 3) and Daniel son of Ithamar, a priestly family, one of the exiles who returned with Ezra In 458 a. C. (Ezra 8: 2).

The Book of Daniel is a biblical book of the Old Testament and the Hebrew Tanakh, which in the Christian Bibles is located between the books of Ezekiel and Hosea.

It is the sixth of the prophetic books and is included - by the Christians - among the Major Prophets (of which is the fourth, after Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel).

The Jews exclude him from the Prophets (Nevi'im) and place him among the Writings (Ketuvim). Several of its parts are deuterocanónicas and only include them catholic Bibles.

According to the book of Daniel, this prophet received two visions during the first and third years of Belshazzar. In them different fantastic animals appeared before their eyes to represent the succession of kingdoms after the Babylonian Empire until an indeterminate time when they would be destroyed and someone as a son of man probably representing "the saints of the Most High", that is the rest of the people Jew, would assume power in a renewed world.27

Perhaps the most famous prophecy attributed to Daniel is that of the Seventy Weeks. The biblical account says that in the first year of King Darius, Daniel found in the writings of Jeremiah that the end of the seventy years of desolation in Jerusalem was approaching. He then received, according to the hagiographer, a revelation transmitted through Gabriel announcing the rebuilding of the city, the death of an Anointed (Messiah) and the fulfillment of all the prophecies. The prediction set the deadlines for these events through weeks which, according to all commentators, correspond to periods of seven years.

The prophetic word is the way God uses it to demonstrate that we can trust Him fully in relation to our life in the present.
