About CORPUS Magazine

English

Constructing Tomorrow – A customer magazine for the construction industry.

CORPUS is a new customer magazine aimed as much at decision makers in the construction industry as at architects, structural engineers, urban planners and product designers. Its focus is on the review and analysis of current issues in the fields of urbanization, architecture, infrastructure and sustainability – all of which have a major effect on how we will live in the future, worldwide.

How will demographic change and the rapid growth of cities impact the architecture of tomorrow? How can ecological and urban planning challenges be mastered with the aid of new high-performance materials? Interdisciplinary work on possible responses to these and other important issues is presented interactively in CORPUS. Some of these approaches are embodied in BASF high-performance products for the construction sector, and the magazine graphically depicts and explains their characteristics and possible applications. CORPUS is appearing quarterly.

A change in our perception of the commonplace can affect our entire way of seeing things – and thus clear the way for new inspiration and ideas. In the fourth issue of CORPUS, we illuminate the grandeur that awaits us when we broaden our vista by just a few degrees. Just suppose we were to regard building facades in the urban jungle not as surfaces lost to nature but as an opportunity to send gardens growing skyward? Our cover story on Living Walls shows how much is possible. What it means and, more importantly, what ideas can evolve when exponents of different disciplines come together has been demonstrated by our international ideas competition with the University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart. Students were given a week to work creatively with SLENTITE, our innovative high-performance insulating material. And creativity is also the theme of our architecture portrait: The US architect Chad Oppenheim is celebrated for his clear-cut, life-affirming designs. We present a number of his Miami projects.

Finally, a brief news item on our own account: The nomination for the German Design Award, which we reported on in the last issue, has culminated in an honor for CORPUS. We’re naturally delighted and hope you enjoy reading this new issue.
