mr kibs depending on your device is which method to chose their are one click rooting apps such as kingoroot or kingroot before getting into that the firsf most important step is to have which ever ur device is backed up ONLY then i would suggest looking for the appropriate rooting app to root your device. i will also highly suggest use the original creator of the rooting app there are many out there that will corrupt your device. Once u have checked if the app is compatible to root your device then.. have at it.
