Turn your old phone into advanced on-demand GPS tracker

Functionality:

* on incoming SMS with keyword the application replies

- current location (+ link to google map)

- speed

- location accuracy

- optionally distance from 3 specified locations (to save time and data checking on map)

* configuration over SMS

Target use:

* dedicated (low spec) Android 4+ phones to be used as location beacons (i.e. to locate your car on demand)

* not intended for use for people tracking, as the GPS search will inevitably drain the battery

Comments

* GPS has to be enabled on the phone to achieve the accuracy - if can work with GSM approximation only but you'll need data on the phone enabled

* for unattended use I'd strongly recommend a device with auto ON/OFF feature or and schedule this to happen daily to minimise risk of phone freezing and/or switching off (definitely for lower spec devices)

* I suggest to use applications such as SMS Backup+ and TeamViewer Host to synchronise phone messages to email and to control the phone remotely when within your home Wi-Fi

Known issues:

* uuholo map link doesn't work (this is just preparation for LITE version)

* design / font sizes etc odd on some phones with higher resolution

* no help within the app

Happy for any suggestions but since this was developed mostly for personal use there might not be time to implement them all.
