Thank you for considering the Commdex Channel Finder. The channels listed in this application are all public domain channels, readily available from a number of sources. We wanted to offer a tool that would allow for easy reference when internet access might not be available, or when away from the laptop/desktop.

Using the Channel Finder is easy! Here is an outline on the features/functions.

On application start you are taken to the main search screen

1 - Simply type (or hit the mic icon and speak it) your search term or frequency into the Search field and hit the [Search] Button. You can narrow your search by picking a Frequency type. If you do not get the expected result try making your term more broad. For example, you might start by simply searching on the term “fire”, which will bring up all results with the word “fire” in them.

2 - In the initial results screen you will see the channel common name, Receive and Transmit Frequencies. Click on any of these to bring up more detailed information about the selected channel.

3 - In the details screen You will see Channel Description, Agency, Type, Original Name, Common Name, Short Name, Rx, Rx CTCSS, Tx, Tx CTCSS, Notes and Channel Limitations. Channel Limitations are click-able to see a more detailed description of them.

4 - Each result screen has a clipboard icon, clicking this will save the contents of that screen to your system clipboard to paste into an email or other application as desired. Clicking the clipboard replaces the current clipboard contents with the last screen you copied from. However, you can move back and forth between applications and the Channel Finder should retain its state, so you can build a list.

5 - There is context sensitive help information via the menu button

6 - Clicking on the back arrow will take you back a screen.

7 - Clicking the Exit Button will allow you to close the program and visit the Commdex website if you wish.

8 - Clicking the Commdex Logo up top will return you from any screen to the main search page.
