If you have an old aluminum window that you want to either restore the existing color or you want to change the color, then, you can be calm. You've come to the right place.

The process of painting aluminum window can be broken down into a series of steps with two different stages. These are preparations and applications. Experienced however, will try and skip on preparations to the detriment of the look and endurance of the finished product.

Preparation

The amount of preparation required depends mainly on the type and condition of the original substrate. For example, if you have an old powder coated aluminum painted window that has lime paint and rubs off against your fingers, then this will take more preparation of a new surface-coated powder that does not leave a trace and is being painted for discoloration.

However, anodized aluminum windows will take more preparation than all other substrates irrespective of substrate conditions because, the surface requires much more mechanical abrasion to include enough surfaces to allow the paint to stick.

Protection surfaces- adjacent finish Each time you paint the insulated part, it is important that you protect the adjacent finish surface. When painting aluminum windows in your home or apartment, you should think about placing the plastic pull of the sheet down, followed by a canvas drop sheet. I recommend applying a plastic film and 3M, which you can with a hand dispenser to protect glass and wall directly around the window frame.

Cleaning - Make sure all surfaces are clean and free of dirt. Dirt and grease are essential in the process of painting aluminum windows. If the surface is dirty then the paint adhesion is reduced. Clean the frame outside with soapy water and a sponge. However, using a soap that is free of salt is like washing a truck. Wash all excess soap with fresh clean water.

Then, the net alternating surfaces go down inside and out by washing solvents like prepsol.

Use scouring to apply solvent. scours will clean and surface lock at the same time. It is important that you do a second wash solvent on a dirty window by applying a solvent with a clean cloth then wiping it with another clean cloth.

Substrate Sanding - There is no easy way around this process. It can be difficult and monotonous especially to get into tight spots like the upper channel because there is no mechanical sanding equipment that can make the job much faster. Thus, doing work manually by hand is difficult and time consuming.
