HOW BLOCKING WORKS ON ANDROID

Bounded uses Usage Access to notice when a blocked app comes to the front, and a screen overlay to show the block. A background service keeps this running while a schedule is active. You are always in control: turn a schedule off, or revoke the permissions in Settings, any time.
