The 102 app was originally developed to report non serious crime. However, the interest from police forces was zero so the app has been redeveloped over the past 18 months to be of generic use, as a more secure social media type platform.

The users will be primarily community watch group organisers who may currently use WhatsApp. They collect information about interests their group has, environmental information like invasive species, utility outages, fly tipping, antisocial behaviour, pavement fouling and other things of local community interest.

As such the 102 app has no formal communication with the police, no free text is passed between any users eliminating the mis information and bias often found in social media.

The 102 App is available to download and during registration (1) they can user their date of birth as part of their User ID but it is not mandatory and (2) they can only belong to one local watch or user group by selecting that group during registration. (3) they can at any point resign from the group.
