Surah Yasin was revealed in Mecca period as 83 verses. The surah takes its name from the letters "Yâ-Sîn" in the first verse. Surah Yasin is considered the greatest surah of the Holy Qur'an and the heart of the Qur'an.

During the Mevlits held on the 1st, 7th, and 52nd days for our dead, the Yasin Surah is mostly read.
