As part of the CNR (Italian National Research Council) Smart Cities project, some qr-code tags has been installed close to the major archeological sites of the city: "Welcome To Syracuse" will help you find them and, through its appropriate scanner, will take you on a journey into the ancient Syracuse, when the city was one of the most important political and cultural centers of the Mediterranean.

Through the app you’ll enjoy some contents certificated by IBAM, the Institute for Archaeological and Monumental Heritage of CNR, including:

• geographical maps to find your way in your itinerary;

• descriptions and research material for each site involved in the project;

• 3D short films;

• reconstructions of the most important historical monuments of Syracuse, declined in modern landscape;

• aerial views and virtual tours allowing you to access the protected sites and to observe the archaeological sites from original and unusual points of view.
