Critical thinking is this way of thinking - about any subject, content or problem - in which the thinker improves the quality of his thought by analyzing, evaluating and reconstructing it competently. Critical thinking is self-directed, self-disciplined, self-controlled and self-correcting thinking. This presupposes the respect of rigorous standards of excellence and a careful control of their use. It involves effective communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a commitment to overcoming our egocentrism and our original sociocentrism.
