The game revives the original story about a basketball team from Shohoku High School whose main members include Takenori Akagi, Kaede Rukawa, Hanamichi Sakuragi, Hisashi Mitsui, and Ryota Miyagi playing against other basketball teams to pursue their National Champion dream. As a core team member and power forward character of the team, Hanamichi Sakuragi joined the team by accident just to impress a girl. However, he eventually falls in love with this sport.
