This Bluetooth Terminal optimized for Beginners connects to devices like HC-05

This Serial Bluetooth (SBT) Terminal is made for sending text messages to a wireless Bluetooth module like HC-05 or HC-06. Such a Bluetooth module is normally connected with an Arduino or Rasberry Pi board. So the SBT Terminal enables you to communicate with your microcontroller in a wireless way based on ASCII encoded messages.

The wireless Bluetooth world is full of technical terms, however

the SBT Terminal makes it easy to start with connecting to a Bluetooth wireless module such as HC-05.

First of all you have to build up the hardware part. For Arduino there are many web sides you can use for getting started,

After you have overcome the hardware obstacles, you can start to check the Bluetooth connection.

Take the SBT Terminal and first make a discovery run. Here you will find your device and all other devices that were paired or discoverable by your phone or tablet. The Discovery Window shows you which device supports the serial port protocol - in Bluetooth terms called SPP.

Next you select such a SPP supporting device and start a session. Now try to establish a connection to your wireless Bluetooth device. If your device was not already paired you will get a system request to enter the PIN of the device. When everything went well the SBT Terminal connects to your wireless module.

There are many features that makes it easy to work with the SBT Terminal:

# The discovery and the session screen has a help mode. Press the help button to enable it. Then press another button and you get a little help text. Press the help button again and you disable the help mode.

# The Discovery Window helps you to find out whether the SPP protocol is supported by the device. Then a session can be started with such a device.

# The command history brings back further messages respectively commands and you can send them again. Typing long commands must be done only once then you can use

them again and again.

# Not all ASCII characters can be printed. In the Settings&Help Window you can enable a setting that makes non-printable ASCII characters visible. Consult the Help Pane in this Window for further information.

# The last device with which you had a session is stored in the Start Screen, so you can easily restart a session with the last device.

# If you close the SBT Terminal by the Restore&Close Button the Bluetooth setting of your smartphone or tablet is restored to the former state: If Bluetooth was disabled before starting the app it will be disabled again. If Bluetooth was enabled it will stay enabled. This feature helps you to save battery.

# If you are in the Session Window and you pause the terminal, the session will stay open. So you can work with other apps without loosing the connection to your device. To disconnect your device press the Disconnect Button or close the Session Window.
